online-dating-profile-examplesEver wonder what a perfect online dating profile looks like? A lot of people — including award-winning journalists, online dating “gurus”, and even your mom — think they know what ‘works’ to reel in hot dates online.

However, after testing hundreds of profile styles, strategies and lines for my clients, I know what is truly effective – and what’s not. And today, I’m going to reveal some real online dating profile examples that are proven to get dates with gorgeous women fast.

Not only that, but I’m going to tell you how to write a kick-@$$ profile yourself, fast. After reading this short article, you’re going to know what to say, where to say it and why you’re saying it. And you’ll see tons of examples to drive that information home.

The secret lies in my profile creation framework, which we have used at ViDA to make original, unique and magnetically attractive profiles for our clients again, again and again.

Ready to get started? Great. Let’s go…

The Click Magnet™ Profile Writing Framework

The typical dating site has a variety of fields you need to fill out in order to complete your profile. The main “About Me” section, where you write about yourself, is almost always mandatory. It’s also the prime section of your profile. If you get this section right, you’ll be 85% of the way to a truly magnetic profile, so that’s what I’m going to focus on here.

Some guys write a few sentences in their about me. Others write a sequel to War and Peace. You, on the other hand, should write between 250 to 350 words. No more. No less. Data analysis by my team and I shows that this is the perfect length to give women a taste of yourself while preserving the irresistibly attractive element of mystery.

Instead of giving you a complete About Me to read right off the bat, I’m going to break it down into the 3 sections with my simple, but highly-effective About Me framework. Then, I’ll provide you with different examples of how those sections might look while telling you how to write one of your own.

At ViDA, this is how we break it down:

1. “Intro” – 1-2 Paragraphs (30%)

2. “Daily Life” – 2-3 Paragraphs (50%)

3. “Describe Your Date” – 1-2 Paragraphs (20%)

Recap: Your About Me is going to be 250 – 350 words long. You’ll break it up into 3 sections. Your “Intro” is 1 or 2 paragraphs. Your “Daily Life” is 2 paragraphs. Your “Describe Your Date” is 1 or 2 paragraphs.

The Intro

Imagine you’re on a bus, high in the Bolivian sierra. The alcohol you smelled on the driver’s breath is having its affect, as he’s honking into oncoming traffic to pass rusty Volkswagens and herds of alpacas (while cursing them in Spanish)… Dust enters your nose and you cinch your seatbelt a little tighter, but all you can think about is: “Maybe I shouldn’t have eaten the llama burger last night”, and “God I hope I make my 5pm flight in La Paz with all my limbs intact”…

Long story short, yes, I made the flight… And no, I’ll never eat another alpaca burger again.

Your Intro needs to hook the reader’s attention by engaging her senses, creating mystery and pulling her into your life, quickly. You only have a few short sentences to captivate her and get her hungry for more, so make the most of your first paragraph.

If you have an exciting story from your past, an interesting childhood anecdote that’ll give a girl a taste of your personality, or a hilarious situation you can describe, then see if you can make a solid intro paragraph out of it. Just be sure to tell the story with language that employs the senses: Touch, Taste, Sound, Sight, and Smell.

Here’s an Intro example for a guy I’ll call Dan:

Sure you’re strapped to a giant kite and the wind could whisk you away like a jet plane… but that doesn’t *really* happen, does it? Well, I’d already convinced my best friend to come along, so there wasn’t any backing out of it…

I did more than my fair share of nosedives into the sea foam before my kite board and I became friends, but after swallowing about 10 liters of saltwater, I finally started getting a taste for how the ocean feels racing under my feet (instead of into my face) and I was hooked. Next up, sailing around the world (after I take a sailing lesson that is)…

Recap: Your intro should be around the first 30% of your About Me. Use a funny, cool, or adventurous story from your life to hook women into reading more. Make sure to employ sensual language.

Daily Life

The next two paragraphs are the Daily Life section, which should account for about 50% of your About Me. In this section, you want to tell women what you’re most passionate about on a daily basis. You could also talk about your love of travel here.

Again, use sensual language to pull her even deeper into your life. This will make her want more. But if it’s a boring part of your life that you don’t like (some guys hate their jobs for instance), don’t talk about it.

Let’s imagine your Intro paragraph described the day you ‘broke out of your comfort zone’ and sang with your guitar at an open mic night. In the Daily Life section, you might balance your artistic singer-songwriter side with some stability by talking about your passion for your career.

Let’s say Dan is an independent accountant with his own firm and is passionate about what he does. But if he just says he’s an accountant, it’s pretty boring, right? So we’ll try and figure out what he loves most about it and describe that in a fun way, like this:

Monday through Friday, I’m a ninja-with-numbers, defending “the people” against the IRS. Wielding my calculator like a set of flaming nunchucks, I cause most auditors to shrivel back into their cubicles in shame.

Also, talk about what you do with your friends for fun on the weekend. Mentioning activities with friends helps paint you as a social person that attractive women want to be around.

If Dan decided not to talk directly about his job, he might say something like this:

I’m not sure if it’s the trying new things or the idea of getting really good at something that’s more exciting, but I think it was my passion for both that led me to become an entrepreneur. I had some false starts and failures in the beginning… but once things click, they click. Before you know it, you’re living life without a boss and things just keep getting better.

Not to say running my business doesn’t keep me on my toes, but I do make time for relaxing with my friends. A couple glasses of red wine, lots of laughing and a bit of classic rock will loosen me up for the weekend, though I don’t need a lot of wine to have a lot of fun. Waking up naturally on a Saturday morning, without an alarm, and rounding up my friends or my brother’s family for an epic hike in the country is probably my favorite way to get in touch with the lighter side of life.

Finally, I want you to go back and re-read the Daily Life examples above, but this time, read between the lines.

Notice the hidden messages? In all cases, we’re saying this: I’m fun. I’m active. I’m successful. I’m popular. I’m funny. I’m sensual. I seize life and enjoy every second of it. But we’re saying it indirectly with snippets and moments of life rather than directly, with adjectives. We let the woman judge us, but the only facts by which she can judge are the awesome ones that we provide… That’s why it’s so important we build a watertight case!

Recap: The Daily Life section is generally 2 paragraphs long and accounts for around 50% of your About Me section. In this section, focus on your passions – what you love most about your life. Talk about your time with friends and being social. Talk about your career. Paint yourself as a stable, fun, adventurous person.

Got it? Good.

Describe Your Date

The last section of your About Me is not about you at all. It’s about the kind of woman you’re looking to meet. Here you want to set the bar high. This will frame you as the alpha male “selector,” not the beta male who’s begging to be selected. Think about the woman of your dreams and describe her, but unlike the other sections, it’s okay to pinpoint what you’re looking for with adjectives.

Here’s an example:

As for the kind of woman I find attractive… she’s got a down-to-earth attitude and knows how to get the most out of life, right now. She’s active, both mentally and physically, enjoys the outdoors, natural food, and a yoga class from time to time.

Warning: if you can’t hold onto a conversation about more than what Brad and Angelina did last summer, we’re not the best match. On the other hand, if you know what you want, and aren’t afraid of having a ton of fun while going after it, send me a message and let’s chat…

Notice the bottom of this example? It ends with what I refer to as a ‘Call to Action.’ Essentially, you’re telling the reader what to do next, giving her specific instructions on how to proceed. This one little sentence alone will increase the number of emails you get from women by about 15%, so don’t forget to put it in there.

Recap: When writing your Describe Your Date section, feel free to use adjectives to describe your ideal woman or man. Set the bar high, and really challenge women to step up to the plate. Finally, end it with a call to action.
